Journalists in the Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC region share inside tips to help students and young professionals land that first/next job. Face Time with the Pros is an all day, collection of seminars designed to help students learn how to be better storytellers, perform on camera, and find out what hiring managers are really looking for. All students will rotate through a series of sessions that include:

  • Getting that first job

  • Video Storytelling

  • Going Live

  • Producing

  • AI: The Good, The Bad & The Uncanny Valley (NEW SESSION)


Each student will have the option to choose one alternating session. The options are:

  • Documentary/Long-form

  • Radio & Podcasting


The day will conclude with our Silver Circle Panel where folks who have been in the industry for at least 25 years share their years of wisdom. This year's panelists include:

  • Maureen Bunyan, Former News Anchor, WUSA9 and ABC7

  • Denise Koch, News Anchor, WJZ-TV

  • Brad Bell, Reporter, ABC7

  • Moderator: Joe Yasharoff, News Director, Montgomery Community Media


There will be lots of opportunities—along with sign-ups—for one-on-one sessions with the pros who can review resumes, resume reels and provide job interview tips.
